Kudzai Mataba
Policy Analyst
Kudzai Mataba is a policy analyst within IISD’s Economic Law and Policy Program, working on tax and investment. She supports developing country governments to design and implement investment incentives frameworks that balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social justice.
Kudzai is trained as a lawyer, specializing in extractives. Prior to joining IISD, she held positions as a researcher with Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (a South African think tank) and the International Trade Centre and has acted as an independent consultant working on tax incentive reform in Africa.
She holds a master’s degree in international trade and investment law in Africa and a master’s degree in extractive industry law in Africa from the University of Pretoria (South Africa). She also holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts specializing in international relations. Kudzai is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
